Plot A- Band Performance
I will have a range of shots of the band performancing, close ups on the singer (also linking to Goodwins theory), and lots ofquick cuts to replicate the energy of Razorlight in their original video. Here are examples of the range of different shots in the original video which i will strive to emulate in order to nail the performance element of the video.
medium shot, mise en scene interesting, singer symbolises purity being all in white, contrasting to what he singing about, links to goodwins theory once more.
extreme close up, you see tiredness
quick cut, action shot demonstrates the livelinessof song/band
close up action shot
vraiety of shots demonstrated, makes the room seem bigger making the sub plot seem more plausible
action, rest of band low down, showing singers' importance in piece?
high angle close up, drummer key part in the song.
The range of skillfull shots creates an energy vital to creating a good performance sequence,I look to better this variety in order to create a perfect performence piece, with variety being essential. This means I will have to perpare and revise what shots are needed and storyboards of this will be only this blog very shortly.
Part B
I am looking to portray a male waking up after a night out, looking visibly effected- (blurred background, close up on bags under eyes etc). We will see him moping around, seeing his phone keep going off from loads from texts being received, angry texts about the night before. Girlfriend, friends etc. Suddenly running to the toilet to be sick. Sending texts towards the end of this scene saying "I'm sorry, I cant remember" multiple times. Ends scene drinking a cup of coffee/tea, suddenly looks up to the camera with a smug grin on his face...
As my media teacher pointed out in my pitch the whole premise of the character is very like those played by Simon Pegg (e.g. Gary King of The Worlds End), and this image found sums up the humorous nature and likability which Simon Pegg uses cleverly in the comedy roles he plays, and this is something which I really need to replicate with my teenage character at the end of the video.
The protagonist is to be the polar opposite that of Razorlight video, my view is that cheeky and cheerful is more likable than morbid and zombie-like, suits the style of the song better as well in my opinion.
